The Podere La Casaccia (La Casaccia Farm) is an antique rural settlement, which still today contains obvious signs of its traditional county past.
Located in the Alto Casentino hills, at the feet of which runs the Arno River, the place is framed by views of the Poppi and Romena medieval castles, with the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests from Mount Falterona to the sanctuary of Verna.
The farm extends for 20 hectares which at one time were cultivated principally for grains, orchards and vineyards, while the residential complex is made up of four buildings: one of these, today restored and used as a residence, was once utilized as the drier for the tobacco cultivated in the plains below.
Today the Podere La Casaccia has aimed its own biological cultivation towards the trees (walnut and cherry), olives, and fruit trees in particularly indigenous, small fruits, potatoes with the recovery of antique local varieties (Red Potato of Cetica), legumes, and horticultural products. Some products, such as in-season fruits and vegetables, based on availability, are offered to the guests.
The Borghini family who from many generations is of Casentinian origin, recovered the old rural settlement and renovated the buildings, respecting the Casentinian countryside tradition: actually, materials such as wrought-iron, stone and solid chestnut wood from the area were used.
Each apartment, six in all, is comprised of hand-made furniture and most modern comforts: autonomous heat, wood burning fireplace, cooking area, satellite TV and outside covered space for eating and relaxing.
The surrounding environment still carries signs of the customs of a different time, such as the washboard and the well, enriched today by an ample parking lot and spacious playground; and there is an adult pool (7 mt. x 14 mt.) and a baby pool, with respective solarium area available to all guests. The hall that currently is found under the farmhouse was once used as a stall for the famous Chianina bovines used for pulling the plow: now the room is available for socializing, reading, playing as well as an internet point.
The wood oven is used to bake pizza, desserts and for roasting meats.
The Borghini family lives and works on the property, proposing the farm as an example of the true agriturismo or farm holiday, having made work on the farm a professional choice.

OUR EFFORTS TOWARDS ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
In 2009 our company made an important eco-friendly decision with the total reconversion of the heating and hot water system
New generation solar panels have been installed on the roof of the building to supply hot water to all the apartments. The thermal plant features a wood-fired boiler to keep the rooms warm during the winter.
We own woods that supply abundant firewood; in this way, our company is able to provide its own energy and cooperate in the protection of the environmental heritage.

Besides committing to maintain the place peaceful as it is a green oasis, we also cultivate our own products through the application of bio-farming principles. Our products can be found in several restaurants in the surroundings and are purchased directly at the farm or at the markets of the province of Arezzo that sell organic food.
Thanks to the short chain, we can offer our clients the best quality/price ratio and products in season at all times.
